Scrimshaw WINS Best Digital Comic 2018!
I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the 2018 New Media Film Festival which took place June 16th & 17th at the James Bridges Theater on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles. Scrimshaw was nominated in the Best Digital Comic category. The NMFF takes place under the guiding principle of “Honoring Stories Worth Telling” and we’re happy to be recognized as such.
I attended the Writers Program at UCLA so I am always happy to return to that beautiful campus, it truly is a place on this planet that I feel at peace. It could be the purity of the writing I was doing while I was there, or maybe it’s just the trees, either way it’s any excuse to go really.
Also being around innovators in all types of categories including AR, VR, 3D, Drone Films, Animation, AI as well as a brace of other conventional mediums is not a bad way to spend a weekend. It’s a pretty good gauge of where your art stands when the judges come from the ranks of the Emmys, Grammys, HBO, BMI, and Marvel. I am happy to announce that Scrimshaw Vol. 1 won Best Digital Comic at the festival. All in all it was a great weekend spent watching the newest in media across a great many platforms. We will certainly be looking for a repeat at the 2019 festival when we return with Scrimshaw Volume 2. The 10th Annual New Media Film Festival takes place June 1st and 2nd, 2019.
